Akshay Kumar and Ahmed Khan Reunite After 19 Years for Welcome to the Jungle, Reviving Iconic Franchise Music

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and filmmaker-choreographer Ahmed Khan have come full circle with their latest collaboration, Welcome to the Jungle, marking a nostalgic reunion nearly 19 years after their first association with the blockbuster Welcome franchise.

Khan, who famously choreographed the iconic title track of the 2007 hit Welcome, returns to the franchise in a new role as director. The upcoming instalment brings him back together with Akshay Kumar, reviving a creative partnership that originally helped shape the film’s memorable musical identity.

Nostalgia Returns Through Music

A key highlight of the reunion is the revival of the franchise’s signature music. The makers have reportedly revisited popular tracks like the energetic title number and the fan-favourite Ucha Lamba Kad, reimagining them for a modern audience while retaining their nostalgic charm.

Industry sources suggest the idea behind this musical revival is to balance nostalgia with scale—preserving the emotional connection of long-time fans while introducing the legacy sound to a younger generation.

A source close to the production noted that the team wanted to “retain the recall value of the original songs while presenting them with a fresh cinematic treatment suited to Welcome to the Jungle.”

“Ucha Lamba Kad Forever” Sparks Buzz

The recently released Ucha Lamba Kad Forever, featuring Akshay Kumar alongside Disha Patani, has already generated strong audience interest. The reinterpretation has also sparked nostalgia among fans who fondly remember the original track featuring Katrina Kaif in the 2007 film.

The updated version is being seen as both a tribute and a modern reinterpretation, reinforcing the franchise’s long-standing association with high-energy music and vibrant screen presence.

A Strategic Blend of Nostalgia and Scale

Film industry observers believe that the musical callbacks are a central part of the film’s promotional strategy. By tapping into the emotional recall of Welcome, the makers are aiming to bridge generations—connecting audiences who grew up with the franchise to new viewers discovering it for the first time.

The film is being positioned not just as a sequel, but as a celebration of the Welcome brand itself, blending humour, nostalgia, and spectacle.

A Massive Ensemble Cast

Welcome to the Jungle also boasts one of the most expansive ensemble casts in recent Bollywood comedies, featuring names such as Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, and many others from across generations of Bollywood cinema.

The film continues the franchise’s tradition of chaos-driven comedy, combining established stars with popular comic actors to create a large-scale entertainer.

Presented by A.A. Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films, and Star Studio18 in association with Seeta Films and Rakesh Dang, the project is a Base Industries Group production. It is produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwallah, Rakesh Dang, and Vedant Vikaas Baali.
